Postpartum Support

Having a child is life changing. With a multitude of stressors and changes in identity, new mothers may experience depression and/or anxiety that is above and beyond normal “baby blues”. Thoughts, behaviours, feelings and physical health can be difficult to overcome without the right kind of help.

Guidance and Support For Healthy Wellbeing

Working with a naturopath to create a treatment plan during pregnancy and post-childbirth, may help mitigate some of the known causes of postpartum depression. We can offer natural treatment options to help address concerns of low mood, anxiety, fear, sleep deprivation, or depression. Coordinating with your maternity provider, midwife, public health nurse, psychiatrist and/or counsellor, we can ensure you receive adequate support.

Postpartum Depression & Anxiety Treatment

After giving birth, it is not uncommon for new mothers to experience negative postpartum symptoms. Intense and overwhelming feelings of sadness and hopelessness can significantly interfere with a woman’s ability to function normally in her daily life. Despite the possible benefits of antidepressant medications, we can provide safe and effective alternative treatment options for you to cope with your “baby blues” or PPD.

We craft a plan unique to your needs and support you every step of the way to a healthier wellbeing. Depending on the severity of a woman’s condition, conventional medical treatment may be recommended and sought out immediately.

Hormonal Imbalance Assessments

For many women, postpartum recovery can feel like a foggy dream. Hormones can be a big part of this, and for many women, hormone assessment can provide some clarity into what’s been happening.

Our naturopaths will use diagnostic tools and techniques to assess any imbalances and recommend supplements, foods, and lifestyle changes to help optimize and balance your hormone levels.

We will educate you on what’s happening in your body and help you get back to being you.

Sleep Counselling

Pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period are all times of great change for women.

Unfortunately, this can also mean a loss of sleep and a dip in energy. Postpartum sleep disturbances can be a serious matter.

We can offer one-on-one support to help you tackle your postpartum sleep challenges and recommend natural remedies and tips to improve energy levels, without the side-effects of medication.
